PWI: Zoya Destiny

Another day, another Zoya.  This one is interesting.

“Textured polish” is exactly what it sounds like: nail polish that doesn’t dry smooth.  The first incarnation of it (that I was aware of) was the OPI Mariah Carey Holiday 2013 collection.*  That was 18 months ago, and people are still making them.  I would have sworn it was a three-week fad, but noooop.  My reaction to these was always “Eeuugh,” because I don’t want to feel like there’s lumpy crap on my nails.

Well… as you may or may not know, Dr. P chose almost everything in the recent Zoya haul.  She did a remarkable job.  I had asked for suggestions because I tend to choose similar colors over and over; as she put it, she didn’t know what those colors were, so she went with one of everything, hence the beautiful Zoya rainbow.

I am guessing she didn’t know that Zoya “PixieDust” means “textured.”  (Why on Kerbin would she?)  But I kind of figured, hey, if I’m ever going to try these, why not a beautiful Zoya at the behest of someone making helpful suggestions?

Hence, Zoya Destiny.

Orangeycoral sort-of sparkles. Extra sparkles on pinky for… added effect..?

Slightly more color-accurate, slightly less texture-accurate.

As predicted, I’m not at all crazy about the texture.  That said, it looks more interesting than I expected.  It looks like certain holiday ornaments,** in a way I certainly can’t capture on camera.

So, for an interesting visual effect, I can certainly see myself going back to it, although I wouldn’t describe myself as a convert.  I like the color a great deal, which undoubtedly affects my opinion!

*As well as having generally great formulas, OPI does lots of promotional collections.  I mean lots, ranging from Gwen Stefani to Bond movies to the Muppets.
